At least 4 house raids and 50 people initially detained during the raids with only 2 or 3 leading to arrest. Nothing 'harmful' found in these raids. Lawyers being cuffed and detained. Journalists having equipment confiscated. Citizens told to stay in home or be arrested.

Voting maching guidelines open for public review- 190 days only
We the people are allowed to comment on voting machine standards and guidelines. Let's not let another bad seed take power through corrupt voting procedures and flawed counting methods. As of now- all voting machine code is secret, as is methods for counting votes. While it may not be in our best interest to publicly release the code, I say no votes should be counted in secret and from a machine that is capable of producing flawed results. ...Remember our past so we do not repeat it.

Celebrate Food! ..or, why support Genetically Engineered Food?
Think of the best culinary dishes you've ever had. Then eat some soylent green. Remember when it was good. Remember when you could grow a crop without the patents on food production, nor with the threat of cross pollination (contamination) of patented genetically modified seed invading indigenous crops? I dunno folks- should we give a damn? -----------------------------We The People Think . com-----------------------------------

What would we do if we were occupied by China? OR, Is it wacko to believe that our occupation of Iraq pre 911 has something to do with 911? Sounding like one of those "blame-America-first" wacko leftists, Paul said U.S. foreign policy was a "major contributing factor" to 9/11. "Have you ever read the reasons they attacked us? They attacked us because we've been over there; we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years." The U.S. is building 14 permanent bases in the Middle East. "What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting. We need to look at what we do from the perspective of what would happen if somebody else did it to us."

Democracy Now- John Perkins interview- Globalization and Corruption whistleblower
Today, we spend the hour with a man who claims to have worked deep inside the forces driving corporate globalization. In his first book, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, John Perkins told the story of his work as a highly paid consultant hired to strong-arm leaders into creating policy favorable to the US government and corporations, what he calls the “corporatocracy.” John Perkins says he helped the US cheat poor countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars by lending them more money than they could possibly repay and then taking over their economies.

The short story....Teacher asks students to write about their emotions. Kid does so and is arrested. (No threats were made in the essay and he turned it into the teacher rather than making it his manifest.) Read the story and comment away!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE (Blueprint for Energy Security)
From http://www.setamericafree.org/openletter.htm For decades, the goal of reducing the Nation's dependence upon foreign energy sources has been a matter on which virtually all Americans could agree. Unfortunately, differences about how best to accomplish that goal, with what means, how rapidly and at what cost to taxpayers and consumers have, to date, precluded the sort of progress that might have been expected before now.

Viewpoints on Gun Control in the US
It's hard not to have an opinion either way on this one. With the recent shootings in Blacksburg Virginia, this topic is being brought up once again in media circles. Do we need a change in our gun laws? Would a law change help law abiding citizens while keeping guns from criminals and psychopaths? What are your thoughts?

In case we forget...How To Fix a Broken Electoral System In Six Easy Steps
This is an article that was posted way back in November of 2004. There was something broken then, and it hasn't gotten any better now. Whether you agree or disagree, it's important to at least 'care' and form an opinion in one way or another. Comment if you care. 2008 is coming up soon and once again we will try to elect a leader that shares and works for our interests. Another 4+ years of leadership is an important topic at this time in our country.

The full picture of Baghdad is grim
Sen. John McCain, in Baghdad last weekend, accused the American press of providing an unbalanced, too-negative report on the situation in Iraq. "The American people are not getting the full picture of what is happening here," he said. McCain's comments came following his tour of a Baghdad market intended to show that life in the Iraq capital is peaceful and normal.

Internet Freedom and Innovation at Risk: Why Congress Must Restore Strong Net Neutrality Protection
The creation and dynamic growth of the Internet is in part the result of strong Net Neutrality protection. All of that changed in 2005, when the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) suddenly repealed longstanding Internet non-discrimination principles with the blessing of the United States Supreme Court. Since then, the keys to the Internet have been turned over to a handful of profit-driven telecoms and cable companies.
